Marqués de Riscal Verdejo Sobre Lías Finas is a wine that expresses authenticity and precisely reflects the spirit of Rueda and the distinctive character of the region’s Verdejo grape.
The winery has been producing white wines under the Rueda Designation of Origin for more than five decades. Pioneers in the 1970s in championing the Verdejo grape, Marqués de Riscal continues today to pursue its purest and most authentic expression, achieving the perfect balance between terroir, climate and know-how. Marqués de Riscal Verdejo Sobre Lías Finas is the result of the perfect combination of these three elements. A beautifully balanced white wine with aromas of white flowers and fresh herbs, generous on the palate, with a fresh mouthfeel and lively acidity.
This wine is made from a carefully selected range of Verdejo vineyards trained on trellises and harvested at night. Ageing on fine lees begins after an initial racking to remove the heavier lees that form immediately after alcoholic fermentation. Fine lees have a higher concentration of inactive yeasts, which release numerous compounds that enhance the quality of white wines, improving aromatic and colour stability as well as contributing to a creamy, textured mouthfeel. The result is a wine that remains fresh in the bottle for much longer.
