Guests gathered at Marqués de Riscal on 12 August to enjoy the Eclipse Experience and watch the total solar eclipse from an exceptional vantage point.
The experience began with a welcome cocktail reception accompanied by live music from a swing band. This was followed by a short talk by Roberto Baena, coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Astronomy at the International University of La Rioja, who explained what happens during this remarkable phenomenon. Guests then watched the total solar eclipse wearing certified eclipse glasses.
To round off the experience, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception featuring a selection of dishes, including Ibérico ham, “Eclipse Grapes” and steak tartare on Elciego toast, accompanied by Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc and Arienzo de Marqués de Riscal, followed by dinner featuring the Eclipse Menu.
The menu comprised the following courses: tomato tartare with ajoblanco and lobster, paired with Finca Montico Gran Vino de Rueda; roasted hake loin on a velvety green pepper purée, paired with XR Rosé; Angus beef loin with nut praline and seasonal mushrooms, paired with XR de Marqués de Riscal; and warm toast with Cameros cheese, Reinette apple and honey ice cream, followed by grapes.
